President - Construction
Steve Hester serves as President of Construction for the Northern California division of Mill Creek Residential. His career experience includes both rental and for sale residential product encompassing a variety of attached product design types and uses including mixed-use and transit-oriented development (TOD) projects, senior citizen conventional, congregate and assisted living facilities.
Prior to assuming his role at Mill Creek in 2011, Mr. Hester served at Trammell Crow Residential (TCR) where he held the position of Construction President for the Northern California division. He joined TCR in 1988 as Project Manager in the greater Sacramento Valley of Northern California. In 1992, Mr. Hester left TCR to form a construction and real estate consulting company located in Sacramento, California. As Principle, Steve directed the acquisition, design, processing and construction of single and multifamily residential rental and for sale projects. In September 1997, Mr. Hester rejoined TCR as a Project Manager in Sacramento and Washington State. He was promoted to Vice President of Construction for Northern California in December 1998 and to President of Construction for Northern California in 2004 serving in that role until 2011.
Prior to that time, from 1982 to 1987, Mr. Hester held project management positions in Northern California with the Robert Randall Company and Pacific Scene, Inc. where he was responsible for the processing of discretionary approvals, coordination of design consultants and construction of multifamily apartment projects.
Mr. Hester received his Master of Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento. He has completed post-graduate work at DePaul University, Chicago, and received a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Finance from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He is a State of California Licensed General Contractor. He has participated in the development and construction of over 10,000 multifamily residential homes in California, Nevada and Washington States since 1982.
