Darren Schackman is one of the original founding members of Mill Creek Residential, chairman of the Investment Committee, a member of the Management Committee, and serves as Mill Creek’s Chief Investment Officer. He also oversees the company’s retail efforts nationally. Prior to his position as CIO, Mr. Schackman served as Executive Managing Director, responsible for the West region, inclusive of California, Pacific Northwest, Colorado, and Texas.  Since Mill Creek’s inception, Mr. Schackman’s team has completed the development and construction of over 20,000 apartment homes with a market capitalization of over $5 billion.

Mr. Schackman joined Mill Creek Residential from Trammell Crow Residential’s North Texas Division, where he was the Senior Managing Director.  In this role, he led the development, finance, and construction teams on more than 20 multifamily rental and for-sale communities. Previous to his tenure at Trammell Crow, he was the Vice President of Development for a private development firm in Dallas and Galveston, Texas. Mr. Schackman began his career with the City of Galveston where he rose to the position of Director of Planning and Development.

Mr. Schackman is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Regional Development.  He is also a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and the Texas Real Estate Council.
