John Harkey serves as Senior Vice President of Asset Management at Mill Creek Residential, where he oversees asset management for the company’s eastern U.S. portfolio, spanning Florida, Atlanta, Nashville, the Carolinas, Mid-Atlantic, Boston and the Northeast.

Mr. Harkey is responsible for the performance and strategic direction of a diversified portfolio of multifamily and single-family rental assets, including new development lease-ups, value-add investments and stabilized communities. His primary responsibility is to maximize asset value through operational performance, capital strategy, refinancing and disposition. He works cross-functionally across Mill Creek to develop and execute asset strategy, collaborating closely with the company’s development, property management, capital markets, portfolio management and investment teams.

Prior to joining Mill Creek, Mr. Harkey served as Director of Real Estate at Greystar, where he held asset management responsibilities across the firm’s U.S.-owned portfolio as well as investments in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Earlier in his career, he was an Investment Associate with Camden Property Trust, focused on multifamily acquisitions and development throughout the Southeast.

Mr. Harkey earned both a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Science in Real Estate from the University of Florida. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the Georgia Apartment Association (GAA).
