Apartments Jump Start the City of Alexandria’s Landmark/Van Dorn Small Area Plan
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – January 29, 2015 – Mill Creek Residential, a leading multifamily developer, investor and operator specializing in premier apartment communities across the U.S., today celebrated the grand opening of Modera Tempo, the catalyst for the City Of Alexandria’s Landmark/Van Dorn Small Area Plan.
Alexandria Mayor William Eullie and Planning Commission Chair Eric Wagner joined Mill Creek Vice President of Development Amirali Nasserian to discuss Modera Tempo’s impact on the city’s vision to create a lively, urban neighborhood in the Landmark/Van Dorn corridor.
“Alexandria and Mill Creek Residential are committed to enhancing the Landmark/Van Dorn corridor to make it one of the finest mixed-use communities in the Washington, D.C., metro area,” Nasserian said. “The grand opening of Modera Tempo commemorated more than just the start of leasing on an incredible apartment community – it marked the beginning of the transformation of a neighborhood into a connected place where people can live, work and play.”
Mayor Eullie accepted the honor of cutting the ribbon at the grand opening ceremony to officially open the community
The mixed-use community located on the corner of South Van Dorn and South Pickett Street features 492 apartment homes and a public-transit-friendly, walkable lifestyle. Residents have access to numerous on-site coffee shops, fast-casual restaurants and daily-use retailers blended with a host of unique, luxurious amenities.
“A growing number of working professionals are starving for a living experience that puts their favorite restaurants, shopping destinations and entertainment venues of choice within steps of their homes,” Nasserian says. “The City of Alexandria and Modera Tempo are making this a reality with a dynamic mixed-use experience that currently isn’t available in the Landmark/Van Dorn Corridor.”
In addition, Modera Tempo is within minutes of the Van Dorn Metro Station, which provides quick, easy access to the many professional job centers in Washington, D.C. Other nearby attractions to Modera Tempo are Old Town Alexandria and soon-to-be redeveloped Landmark Mall, which Mill Creek will also transform into a mixed-use property with high-end shopping and dining destinations.
Modera Tempo consists of studio, 1- and 2-bedroom apartment homes and lifestyle-enhancing amenities, such as a dog spa, yoga studio, social kitchen and bike storage. The Alexandria apartments also feature a 24-hour fitness center, two hotel-inspired pools, three private courtyards, one public/retail plaza with outdoor seating and free Wi-Fi in community common areas.
