CEFGA SkillsUSA State Championships, Georgia

Currently there is a national shortage of skilled labor within the construction industry. This effects our company every day on all of our many projects across the country and our ability to deliver the highest quality homes to our tenants. MCRT Southeast Construction is not idly sitting and accepting what the skeptics say about the future of construction as a career. Represented by Modera Vinings and Modera Sandy Springs Superintendents Keith Taylor and Ronnie Bixler, Mill Creek participated as judges for the CEFGA SkillsUSA State Championships competition. Keith and Ronnie, both skilled carpenters in their own right, bring over fifty years of construction experience to the table. The SkillsUSA State Championships is a competition that invites students to showcase their skills in a number of construction-related disciplines ranging from carpentry to electrical to machine operation. This event, combined with the Career Expo drew a record 7,500+ attendees this year.

CEFGA is nonprofit organization, created in 1993 as the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia. Leading construction presidents and CEOs who recognized a need for quality construction skills training in Georgia founded the organization. CEFGA delivers direct construction training and placement services through its nationally recognized Construction Ready and CDL Ready Programs, currently offered at two locations in metro Atlanta. These programs currently train and place more than 240 adult students each year. CEFGA hosts its annual Career Expo, which consists of hands on displays that allow students to engage with industry professionals, equipment and materials in order to tap into their unique skills and interests.
