Mill Creek Residential Announces First Move-Ins and Forthcoming Highland Bakery at Modera by Mill Creek – Vinings

Press Release

ATLANTA (August 23, 2018) – Mill Creek Residential, a leading multifamily developer, investor and operator specializing in premier apartment communities across the U.S., today announced that initial resident move-ins began in early August at its Vinings community.

Located at 3205 Cumberland Boulevard, Modera Vinings sits on 3.5 acres of land overlooking a private body of water, dubbed Crossroads Pond, at the trailhead of the Silver Comet Trail. Designed in collaboration with Lord Aeck Sargent, the community features 269 apartment homes, including studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom residences located above 5,316 square feet of street-facing retail space.

Bordering the areas surrounding Cumberland Mall and Akers Mill Square, Modera Vinings brings residents a connected lifestyle easily accessible from I-285. In addition to the recently announced Kale Me Crazy location, the community will feature an outpost of Highland Bakery, an Atlanta favorite for breakfast, brunch and lunch.

“Welcoming our first residents and adding to the retail lineup at Modera Vinings is just the first step in energizing what’s sure to be a vibrant, active place to live, work and play,” said Harvey Wadsworth, Managing Director for Mill Creek. “It’s always our goal to partner with community-focused and often Atlanta-based retailers, providing an option for residents and guests that’s unlike anything else in the area. Highland Bakery could not have been a more perfect fit, and we’re excited to welcome them to the Vinings community.”

Expected to open in early 2019, Highland Bakery & Kitchen at Modera Vinings will offer a full breakfast and lunch menu, featuring many of the restaurant’s signature items, including sweet potato pancakes, shrimp and grits, fried chicken eggs benedict and fresh salads, in addition to gourmet coffees, smoothies, mimosas, bloody Marys and other adult beverages. The restaurant will serve as the 11th iteration of the popular Atlanta concept, joining the lineup of Highland Bakery locations in Old Fourth Ward, Midtown, Virginia Highland, Emory University, Georgia Tech, as well as other franchise locations in Decatur, Buckhead, downtown Atlanta and Peachtree City. Highland Bakery will join Kale Me Crazy at Modera Vinings’ retail-activated boardwalk overlooking the nearby private pond.

“As a company that got its start with a coffee cart, you could say Highland Bakery & Kitchen is keen on supporting communities that are conducive to an active, walkable lifestyle,“ said Campbell Mitchell, who serves as the co-owner/operator of the forthcoming Highland Bakery franchise location with his wife, Bree. “Modera Vinings’ open, accessible retail plaza will be a great locale for the concept, and we can’t wait to bring Highland Bakery’s signature flair to the community and its residents.”

Complementing its thoughtful retail lineup, Modera Vinings will deliver a variety of premier amenities geared toward social interaction and resident convenience, including an open-air event space where residents and visitors can enjoy the views of Crossroads Pond and the surrounding area while dining or relaxing outdoors. The community will also feature a hotel-inspired swimming pool and sun deck; a spacious courtyard with firepits and communal dining areas; and a 24-hour membership-quality fitness center with a yoga studio and personal training sessions. Furthermore, four-legged residents will have access to a variety of pet-centric perks amongst the community’s dog park, run and pet spa.
